With the plethora of American shows over the years dissecting and analysing the teenage psyche it is easy to characterise our teenage lives through a simple question & answer session. Were you a ffice:smarttags" />

Danny Boyle's debut is 10 years old next week and that would be the said film I watched underage. This slightly freaked me out somewhat, so I checked out the other thing I associate with that time 'Girl from Mars' by Ash and '1977' was indeed released in May 10 years ago. A lot has happened to me in the intervening years and my life has moved on immeasurably since then but the ‘I’m getting old’ feeling is never a nice one. I'll leave you with this:
Told the in-laws we were going to Seattle for Dave's wedding and they sent us this link to a b&b their friends stay at.

Turn the sound up - the cheese of america. Mr Bennet how do you cope?
I love these type of Sundays. I get up, watch a bit of cricket, combined with the the night b4's MOTD, followed by a church interlude. i return home to watch the grand prix, then its a little bit of roast dinner b4 the rugby and finally Arsenal v. Liverpool. These type of days cant be beaten. Now lets just hope we do the business at highbury.
for those of you who know anything about history, the peninsula war was fought not on the bit of land that sticks out between the dee and mersey but in Iberia. the men of King George fighting the forces of Napolean at the turn of the 19th century across Spain. think Sean Bean and the Sharpe stories. Its significance i believe was that it was the first real gorilla war - tactics of short sharp isolated attacks against the imperial army of france - no open warfare and no real weakness for the enemy to exploit. Ok so you are probably wondering where i'm going with this. Tonight the men of anfield road will be taking on Iberian adversary and it will all be about tactics. We need to maintain our defence and ensure that our goal remains intact or we need to score 3, something we obviously did last year against Olympiacos but i think 3 goals in our current goal shy form might be too much to ask. I can see us scoring twice - Robbie to net his first of the second coming and little Luis popping up as he nearly always does in the Champions League. So as I take my seat in the Main Stand tonight - i'll be hoping that Mr Benitez has got his tactics spot on and that we'll see a masterclass of the counter attack. Come on you Mighty Reds!!!YNWA
So I've been reading this guy Donald Miller lately. I just picked up his second book 'Searching for God knows what' and I continue to love his down to earth telling of elements of the Christian life. His first book 'Blue like Jazz' captured me because of the little lines he throws in, like "I was a fundamentalist Christian once ..." and his "Penguin Sex" explaination of faith. I just find that i relate to the stuff he writes basically because he seems to have grown up in Church and yet doesnt necessarily fit in. In this next book he kind of has a go at the Christian community for turning the relational Gospel of Jesus Christ into 5 steps to salvation.
I like this bit especially:
How did a spirituality such as Christianity, a spirituality that speaks of eternity, a world without end, of forgiveness of sins and a mysterious union with the Godhead, come to represented by a moralist agena abd a trickle-down economic theory? And more important, how did a man born of Eastern descent, a man who called Himself the Prince of peace, a man whom sacred writings describe eating with prostitutes and providing wine at weddings and healing the sick and ignoring any political plot, a man who wants us to turn the other cheek and give all our possessions if sued, become associated with - no, become the poster boy for - a Western moral and financial agenda communicated through the rhetoric of war and ignorant of the damage it is causing to a world living in poverty?
Discovered Google Earth the other day. http://earth.google.com/ Don't know if you've done it but you can zoom in so close to your house you can see the car parked in the driveway. We checked out Helen parents and then tried to zoom in to old Strathallan Close - as usual the search for 'Wirral' didn't work. It's not enough that they leave it off most maps but Google earth like the rest of the flippin world has no clue where i grew up. Anyway got there via Liverpool and then decided to take a tour round and about. Checked out Dorney Cottage and Bailey-Lockes old place just for the halibut before taking a little trip past school down to the Marine lake. I miss the coast, the sea, the views, the sunsets.
We then took a trip across to the other side of the world and checked out the Philippines. Manila is just one big mash of haze but we could just make out the place we stayed. Anyway you should check out if you haven't seen it already
On other points, I brought a couple of http://www.ryan-adams.com/ albums. I now have all three from last year. They're growing on me but nothing grips me like demolition or gold but still i really love blue sky blues on 29. A little bit of haunting piano always gets me. I almost checked him out in Nottingham on Friday but blithered around too much and they sold out. Bummed! but heh i probably wouldn't have recognised all the songs anyway. On more musical matters, had dinner with a couple of Hel's dr friends and the bloke had a copy of 'almost here' http://www.unbelievable-truth.com/ I made him play 'stone' and then had the pleasure of introducing him to 'Roadside No. 1' a few days later - just for old days sake. I also managed to get round to getting http://www.deathcabforcutie.com/ 'Plans' and was glad that its more of the same, even heard 'The New Year' in Gap the other day. Thanks for introducing me to this band Mr Haydock.
I also find myself a little annoyed this evening. some eejit took the wing mirror off my new car and its going to cost me 120 quid to fix. i hope it did worse damage to his/her car.
Hope we thrash the mancs on saturday, especially as i have about four of em coming to my house to watch it. It seems that God has found it slightly amusing to fill my life with scum fans.
People are calling it a publicity stunt but you know i don't care. on the day that fowler left liverpool i was strangely cut up - made me think that i perhaps loved this thing called football too much. i said that when we were looking to get Owen back, that i'd actually prefer to see fowler back in red. he just conjured up more excitement, more emotion, more passion. Ok so he's not in his prime but i like fairytales and hope that this can really be one. Robbie back in front of the kop is where he belongs.
